Write now

you gotta start somewhere

Most people find writing difficult, even painful, especially when facing a deadline.

There is only one solution to this, and that is to start writing.

pick a topic - any topic

Look at your list of possible topics. Pick one that appeals to you and just start writing. Don't spend too much time thinking through which ideas are better than others; you can only find out by trying. Don't worry about word limits, proper grammar, or page formatting. Those are distractions from our goal here, which is to put your ideas down on paper.

this is a draft. it is only a draft.

Avoid the temptation to fine-tune your essay. Chances are that most of what you're writing now will be gone by the time you're done. Do spend the time to clarify your thoughts and writing. Don't spend too much time generating flawless, sparkling prose. I've found dictionaries to be nefarious procrastination tools.
